An award-winning campus designed for flexibility with a huge variety of practical training opportunities. The $31 million combined Public Safety Training Center is designed to meet the current and future training needs of the Police, Fire, EMS, Public Works and Army National Guard personnel.

Located on 123 acres, the master plan has been implemented over the past decade, continuing to this day. For the training of new recruits and for in-service training, the facility has the flexibility to accommodate a variety of training scenarios on a single campus. Highlights of the new facility are two indoor gun ranges and a 15,000 SF indoor vehicle practical applications training area that can be used for night training during the day, water flow demonstrations, laddering, rappelling and advance hose training. The readiness center includes military truck maintenance training bays. A digital Fire Arms Training Simulator (FATS) is also located adjacent to the gun ranges. Used by both police and fire, the cast-in-place training tower structure is seven stories tall and approximately 16,000 square feet. The interior and exterior of the facility  simulate a variety of residential, commercial and institutional building conditions and situations that are experienced in the line of duty. The Training Tower and Apparatus Bay are used together to provide a variety of laddering and search and rescue scenarios. In addition, breaching walls, doors and search and rescue mazes are designed for flexibility and reconfiguration. The Urban Driving Course and Driver's Training Pad are designed to simulate typical City of Omaha urban and suburban roadway conditions. Funded by private donations, the K-9 facility provides kennels, training room, classroom, locker room, vehicle search area, weapon and drug storage, indoor and outdoor dog training facilities.   A "supergraphic" designed by RDG energizes the facility, providing immediate visual impact upon entrance to primary corridor.
