Report for
First National
Bank Building
The First National Bank occupies a prominent corner location and is a downtown Ottumwa landmark. We were asked to conduct a Historic Structure Report for this historic building.
The purpose of the report is to assist potential developers who may be interested in rehabilitation of the building. The document helps future owners gain a better understanding of the building's history and appropriate uses for the building while prioritizing repairs. We worked with a team of structural, mechanical and electrical engineers to put together a complete understanding of the current conditions, necessary repairs and opinions of probable costs. RDG completed a thorough foundation-to-roof conditions assessment of the historic materials and renovations over time. This provided the owner with a clear and concise path to maintenance planning. The owner used this information for short term and long-term planning decisions. The report was funded in part by an Iowa Historic Resource Development Program (HRDP) Grant.
