In response to the vision outlined in Palmer College's 2015 master campus plan, the underutilized rooftop plaza of the college's library underwent a transformative redesign to better serve the needs of the campus community. Recognizing the untapped potential of this space, RDG's landscape architects and lighting designers collaborated closely with Studio 483 architects to breathe new life into the area, resulting in the vibrant and inviting Keller Rooftop Terrace.

The terrace boasts carefully curated and flexible site furnishings that accommodate various activities and preferences. These furnishings provide students, staff, and visitors with comfortable seating options, fostering a dynamic and adaptable space for relaxation, study, and social interaction. To enhance comfort and usability, a stylish and functional shade canopy in the form of a pergola was introduced.

This feature not only provides respite from the sun but also adds architectural interest to the terrace. Our lighting designers incorporated specialty lighting to extend the terrace's usability into the evening hours. Thoughtfully placed and designed lighting fixtures create an inviting ambiance, ensuring the terrace remains a lively and attractive space even after sunset.

The redesign prioritizes accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that the Keller Rooftop Terrace is welcoming to all members of the campus community. Thoughtful design elements, such as ramps and accessible seating, contribute to a space that is functional and inviting for everyone.
