Services provided on this project:

Architecture Overview:

This expansion and renovation provides the ISU campus with a comprehensive west-campus-based recreational facility which complements the choice of recreational activities currently available at the Lied Recreation and Athletic Complex on the east side of campus. This project also links Beyer Hall with the expanded State Gym, providing additional facilities and increased activity choices without the need to build all new facilities. In addition, this linkage and reuse of State Gym provides a positive identity and gives new life to the historical campus icon that State Gym represents.

    Sports, College & University,

hen I was a student at Iowa State I was on the planning committee for the State Gym expansion and renovation project. I finally received a tour of the new building this past weekend. Wow is it beautiful! All the hard work and planning paid off. I loved the openness of the building and the ability to move from Beyer, to old State Gym, to State Gym expansion. The facilities that the REC staff have available comparable to their old space is not even in the same spectrum. I also loved the color of the hard wood floors with Cy in the center. The cubbies made out of the old State Gym floor were also a nice touch. I know if I was still a student I would live at that place and probably never leave the pool. Thanks so much for all you and RDG did throughout the process. I know the State Gym expansion and renovation has already and will in the future touch and change student life on campus.
