Thompson Park Master Plan
Overland Park, KS
Services provided on this project:
Landscape Architecture Overview:
RDG collaborated with the city staff, City Council, Steering Committee and citizens of Overland Park to develop a master plan for Thompson Park, a 3.8-acre park in the heart of downtown. Four initial plans were proposed to the community, including two that recommended moving the city’s farmers market to the park from its current downtown location. Four guiding principles were core to each plan: appreciate the greenspace, become a definitive park destination, anticipate the future and support the downtown. "Park Stroll," a design that did not include a farmer’s market, was selected to be constructed in 2019.
