At RDG, we believe in the transformative power of thoughtful, engaging landscapes. As we open our doors in Madison, Wisconsin, we're looking for an experienced landscape architect who shares our passion for creating spaces that bring communities closer to the natural world around them. 

This landscape architect position offers a rare opportunity to shape the trajectory and culture of our new office. In this role, you’ll be involved in leading landscape architecture projects to create designs that enhance communities across the country. Additionally, your leadership will be instrumental in building the Madison office's capabilities, guiding our team's growth and fostering a culture of continuous learning, excellence and collaboration.

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaboration with multiple disciplines, clients and the public; serve as a mentor for junior-level staff

  • Development of design ideas from conceptual planning phases through design detailing and construction administration

  • Produce presentations that communicate our design expertise

  • Site analysis that considers the broad economic, social, ecological, and aesthetic considerations of a place

Requirements

  • Critical thinking collaborator 

  • Sound computer drafting, design communication and presentation graphic skills

  • Builds long-term relationships with team members and clients

  • Able to develop successful strategies for getting things done

  • Strong communication and presentation skills 

  • Proficient in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office applications

Education & Experience

  • 7-15 years of professional work experience with a background in landscape architecture and urban planning 

  • Landscape architecture licensure certification or the ability to acquire certification and licensure in Wisconsin is required 

  • Construction detailing, materials and construction administration field experience

  • Past project management experience in planning and developing projects from the conceptual design phase through construction documentation
