1000 Friends of Iowa Recognizes Partners in Sustainability and Responsible Land Use
RDG Planning & Design honored for designs that protect natural environments, revitalize neighborhoods and improve quality of life for future generations.
1000 Friends of Iowa, a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible land use, smart growth and sustainable development, has recognized three projects designed by RDG Planning & Design with Best Development Awards. Now in its 18th year, the Best Development Awards program celebrates work across Iowa that demonstrates innovative design solutions and improves local communities.
The projects recognized represent work in architecture, integrated art, landscape architecture, and lighting design and include Grinnell Central Park in Grinnell, Iowa, and Lee County Bank and Cattermole Library in Fort Madison, Iowa. Each incorporated elements of adaptive reuse or historic preservation and benefited from ongoing civic engagement and public support.

1000 Friends of Iowa is the only group in the state focused solely on promoting responsible land use and sustainability in community, state, and federal development decisions. Representatives from RDG joined with clients and partners to accept the awards during a ceremony and luncheon celebration on January 21, 2020.
