Chevrolet —
Steel Ridge
The project involved the design and development of a new, larger location for H&H Chevrolet, focusing on automotive retail, service and parts distribution. The expanded facility aimed to relocate closer to the core customer base, enhancing accessibility and operational efficiency.
Despite a successful 50+ year tenure at the previous location, H&H Chevrolet's decision to relocate was driven by a need to adapt to demographic shifts and customer patterns. With the metro area's population moving westward, a more central and accessible location near major transport links—Interstate 80 and Highway 370—was chosen to optimize customer reach and service. Adhering to Chevrolet's brand guidelines, the design aimed to significantly scale up the typical dealership blueprint to accommodate the new strategic vision. The existing Chevrolet Design Intent Document was used as a foundation. It was then expanded to suit the new facility's doubled size requirements, ensuring it remained in harmony with Chevrolet's corporate identity.
Collaborative efforts with the client focused on refining and customizing the Chevrolet guidelines to fit the new site's extensive scale better. This process involved detailed planning and adaptations of the standard specifications, culminating in a comprehensive documentation set for GM's approval. The new design included several state-of-the-art features to elevate customer service and operational efficiency. The new facility is envisioned as a flagship location, setting a benchmark for excellence within the Chevrolet dealership network.
For H&H Chevrolet, this state-of-the-art facility is a business expansion and a strategic asset in attracting and retaining top talent, particularly skilled service technicians currently highly sought after in the automotive industry. The design and capabilities of the facility reflect H&H's commitment to excellence and leadership in the automotive sector. The new dealership enhances the customer experience through a more accessible location and improved facilities. Features include five service lanes with digital markers for easy navigation, a heated and air-conditioned service entrance that has quadrupled in size, and a much larger customer lounge for enhanced customer experience. The expanded service capacity - from 20 to 39 technicians and 8 to 12 service advisors - significantly reduces scheduling and wait times, supporting a superior customer service model.
This project represents a strategic realignment of H&H Chevrolet's operational facilities with its broader business objectives. By leveraging design to enhance customer experience and employee satisfaction, the new dealership is poised to set new standards in automotive retail and service excellence.
